Ginger Sautéed Pears

This recipe was included as part of the Fruit Pruning Class taught at the Brown County Central Library February 2024.

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup local unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons peeled minced fresh ginger
  • 4 firm but ripe local pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced (about 1 ¾ pounds)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add brown sugar and ginger and stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Add pears and cinnamon; sauté until pears are tender, about 6 minutes.

Notes

Serving Suggestions:
Serve pears over oatmeal, vanilla ice cream or pound cake
